#REVIEW: Twisted Desire by Sharon Kay

Title: Twisted Desire
Author: Sharon Kay
Series: Titan World #2
Publisher: Titan World LLC
Publish Date: January 24, 2017
Pages: 86
Buy It Link: Amazon

Synopsis: From New York Times bestselling author Cristin Harber and Award-winning author Sharon Kay comes an exciting collaboration…

Rhys MacLeod is a warrior first and a hacker second. Preserving the balance of power among supernatural beings is his prime directive, as well as keeping it far from human eyes. The discovery of a man killed by magical force on a Chicago street lands him on an op he didn't expect. He's good, but solving this crime requires a call to the best of the best.

Parker Black of Titan Group never met a network he couldn't infiltrate. Along with Titan team member Locke Oliver and Megan, a scientist who witnessed the murder, they uncover a maze of encrypted files and unethical DNA manipulation.

Rhys is duty bound to keep all supernatural details hidden from his human friends, so identifying the killer becomes more complicated when clues indicate the perp isn't human. And when the murderer shows up at their location, every second counts before its true nature is revealed.

My Review: I received a copy of this review in exchange for an honest review.
I am a huge fan of both Cristin Harber's Titan series, and Sharon Kay's Watcher series. And amazingly enough, they have a crossover...a crossover! I love well-written cross-overs, and I got to read this book right after I read Rhys' book, Awakening Kiss. I wasn't exactly sure how Sharon would be able to keep Rhys' secret, especially from my favorite Titan hacker, Parker Black, but somehow she did, and believably. Though I was hoping this would be a full-length novel, and it certainly could have been, I think it was just enough for a quick dip without straining the timelines of both series.
There was some suspense, some action, and even a tiny glimpse into a future budding romance in this quick-reading novella.
If you are a fan of either author, this is a great introduction to the other series, and if you're a fan of both, like me, this is double the amazing reads!

Cooking up sweet new pastry creations is Enza’s dream job. Kitchen appliances never fail her, unlike every computer she’s ever touched. Her fledging baking business is doing well, yet as streetlights flicker with her changing mood, she can’t shake the feeling that she’s different from everyone else. But life as a regular Chicago girl is all she’s ever known…until one hot summer night.

My Review: I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
From the very first book I read from the author, Sharon Kay, I fell in love with her world. It reminds me a lot of JR Ward's series, Black Dagger Brotherhood. Very much a contemporary romantic paranormal genre. Her books are full of strong women, alpha warrior men, lots of paranormal activity, even an off-world, with a very contemporary, realistic Earth at the same time.
Enza is a co-owner of a pastry, coffee shop, and an amazing pastry chef in Chicago when she gets caught in the middle of a fight between dark elves and demons. Rhys, one of the Watchers about to break up the fight, thinks she is the enemy as she runs straight into a portal. And thus starts the next book that makes me love Sharon Kay more and more.
Enza is a strong woman emotionally, as she is faced with a new reality of her world that she once thought was so secure, as we all do. I'm not quite sure I would be quite so resilient in finding these things out and having my reality flipped on its ear.
Rhys is a Lash demon and one of the alpha warriors in the group called the Watchers. He is just as hot as all of the Lash demons have been in this series. While he is an alpha, he isn't an ass, being at least understanding as Enza struggles to come up with some understanding of the new knowledge of the worlds that she is coming across.
The action and romance in the book is amazing, and keeps the storyline going. It kept me reading far into the night, and until it was done the next day.
So, if you have never heard of this author, but love JR Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhoood, I suggest you check out Sharon Kay! She's definitely your next author on your list. Her books are just as addictive.
