TSSOCEbookAmazon (1)  A silent call for help began the friendship between two children. A bond unlike any other kept them together. Finn was just a kid when he first heard Snow’s voice inside his head, two children in need of a friend and finding one in mysterious strangers. But the search for Snow leads him to a truth he isn’t prepared to face, a truth that has the power to unravel his entire world. The people he thought he knew, the life he thought he’d made, the best friend he thought he could protect – all point toward a brutal reality should he fail. My Review:  I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Wow. That's all I can say. This book blew me away, and its not the only book that Kristina Circelli has written that has done this. She is an amazing author that has created books that have stayed with me. I knew when I heard she had come out with another book, I definitely needed to read it. But even if it wasn't by her, the synopsis of the book would have drawn me in. I love the idea of two children being able to connect telepathically. Would it be a sci-fi book? A psychological thriller? A fantasy book?
From the very beginning, I was pulled into the story of these two children, one boy named Finn in the darker, seedier side of life, and the innocent well-to-do girl, Snow. As the book continued and the book followed their lives, my heart broke for Finn and the life that he doesn't seem to have much control over. I kept hoping that the growing connection between the two children would start to show Finn that people can be better, he can be better.
And then heartbreak happens as Snow is kidnapped and I was pulled along helplessly as Finn desperately searched for her and time started to run down. But wait....oh no....
The plot twist happens and all I can say is that my head spun. I sat there after finishing the book and couldn't get it out of my head of a good week after I finished the last page. Now I want to read it again just to see if there were clues somewhere, anywhere that pointed towards that end.

#BLAST: Schism by Britt Holewinski

Schismbookblast

Schismcover
"Schism" is the first book in a new dystopian trilogy that tells a tale of survival, of good versus evil, and of constructing a future with only memories of childhood. A government-created virus is accidentally released before testing is complete and within weeks it kills six billion people, children are the only survivors. Andy Christensen and her two friends travel across the country searching for a safe place to live, but nowhere, it seems, is capable of resurrection. “SCHISM is an engrossing page turner that skillfully deals with dark subject matter in a compelling, through-provoking manner…The writing is crisp and clear, and the novel’s details are well-researched, down to the names of local roads and landmarks and the types of technology used by the survivors.” -IndieReader.com “This apocalyptic teen drama’s character interactions may draw readers in, but its vigorous story will keep them hooked.” - Kirkus Reviews

Early on, she dreamed of becoming an astronaut; however, shortly after completing her graduate degree, she was offered a job with the CIA. Her years working for the Agency opened her eyes to the world we live in and gave her rare glimpses of what living in a crumbling, post-apocalyptic world might be like. My Rating: 4 stars

My Review: I received a copy of this movie in exchange for an honest review from FishFlix.
First, I want to briefly talk about my experience with FishFlix. I had never heard of this company before, and thought they were probably a very small company, most likely dealing only in indy Christian Movies. When I looked at their website though, it really impressed me with the selection of movies available. I chose War Room to review, and I received the movie in excellent condition in a few days after requesting it. I was very impressed by the timeliness and efficiency with which they processed my request.
I have read the book before seeing this movie, and though the book was written based on the movie, I still think the book was so much better. However, because the book was based on the movie, there were not many things that were too different. Elizabeth's character was very well portrayed in the movie and the actress did a fantastic job on her. I wasn't too pleased with Tony's character portrayal, I think there should have been more tension and more portrayal of the infidelity of Tony. The few scenes of it didn't convey the same emotion as the book did. Perhaps this was just on the actor's part, but it really felt luke warm to me.
Overall, this was a good movie, but the book was so much better and more inspiring.
