Synopsis:  British Alpha wolf Jake Marsden spends his days among humans, pursuing a lucrative music career and avoiding his pack’s politics. When his current DJ tour takes him to the US, he stops in Los Lobos to visit family, and runs into the one Wolf he never wants to see again—the mate who rejected his claim.

While visiting her brother in Los Lobos, free-spirited Lexi Luparell is shocked to encounter the Wolf she’d denied when they were teens. Now she must face her guilt for the cruel way she spurned him all those years ago, make amends, and admit the truth. Jake was right all along—they’re meant to mate.

Lexi would love to explore the mate concept and her overwhelming attraction to virile, Alpha Wolf Jake, but he wants nothing to do with her. How can she break down his defenses when she’s the reason he built them in the first place?

Jake dates only human women now. Lexi had her shot at being his mate, and she threw it away. But when her life is threatened, he may have to rethink his position and do whatever it takes to claim his one true mate.

Excerpt from Under a Mating Moon by Celia Breslin:

A billion butterflies battered Lexi's stomach. She shifted her attention from Ross to the piano. Sure enough, the music had stopped, and Jake faced her from his seat on the bench. Man oh man, the heavy stare from those sky blue eyes sent shivers skittering down her spine. His gaze held the same intensity she remembered from him as a kid, as if he saw into the heart of people, exposing their deepest secrets. It drove her crazy back then, and she'd spent much time teasing him, pulling his hair, trying to distract him from being so serious all of the damn time. They were teenagers—partying was supposed to be their sole focus.

With his ice blue stare locked on her, Jake rose to his feet, all taut muscle and predatory power. His energy swept over her like a tsunami, forcing all of the moisture to abandon her mouth while parts much lower wept with want. Her inner Wolf howled, answering the call of this Alpha, the first Dominant male ever to make her sit up and take notice. Holy crap. Her muscles shook with the need to bound over to him, jump in his arms, wrap her legs around his torso and writhe against his hard, hot, tattooed body.

Jake said something to his uncle then stalked straight at her, cutting a path right through the middle of the tables and the many, too-curious patrons.

A whimper escaped her throat.

Surprise sparked in her brother’s brown eyes. "You're kidding me. Him?" He burst out laughing. "Wow, sis, that's some major, big time irony right there."

Darci’s expression conveyed her bewilderment. "Now what are you two talking about?"

Her annoying brother grinned. "See that angry Alpha headed our way?  My sister here rejected him when they were teens and he's apparently her—"

Lexi socked her brother in the ribs. "Shut it, Ross."

"Ouch." Ross rubbed his side and chuckled at her plight. The jerk.

"Come on, Lexi, you have to admit the hilarity of the situation."

No, she did not. Nor did she have to admit that J-Bird was right all those years ago. He was her mate. O to the M to the G... They were mates.

Even so, he didn't look happy to see her at all. In fact, he looked positively enraged. Shit, shit and triple shit. What a mess she'd made eight years ago. Well, she was woman enough to pull on her big girl panties and fix it. She straightened her spine and lifted her chin in challenge, meeting Jake's stormy stare. He halted before her.

I can do this. "Hey J-Bird. Nice to see you." Lovely. Her voice sounded like she'd eaten the gravel from the lot in front of Gee's bar. Embarrassment heated her cheeks.

One breath, two breaths, three... J-Bird glared. Tension coiled between them in the silence. Lexi bit the inside of her cheek to avoid babbling at him. She'd said hello. It was his turn. Damn it, J-Bird, say something. He wasn't making this easy.

"Alexina."  His arctic tone dismissed her and slapped her in the face at the same time, leaving her disappointed and confused. No one called her by her full name. No one except her parents when she'd done something wrong as a kid. He might as well have said, "screw you," while slamming a door in her face.

His focus shifted to her brother. "Hello, Ross. Been a while." His hand shot out to grasp her brother's in a cordial shake.

"Good to see you, Jake. Join us for lunch? My treat. We can catch up on old times."
"No, thank you. I'm done. Nice to see you again, Ross." Jake nodded at Darci. "Miss." He brushed past them and out the door.

"What. Just. Happened?" The, “I'm done,” he uttered in his delicious British accent seemed aimed more at her than at her brother's offer. And the fact he hadn't even looked at her before stalking out all sexy in his gloom and doom? Yeah, that hurt.

"I think you know, sis." The amusement left her brother's face and sympathy glimmered in his gaze. "Question is, what are you going to do about it?"

She'd never run from a fight in her life. She wouldn't start now. "Grab a table. I'll be back in a second. Or not." She ignored her brother's knowing grin and hurried out the door.

#REVIEW: Sapphire Beautiful by Ren Monterrey

sapphire beautiful tour banner

Sapphire Beautiful
We both joined The Club and made an arrangement. I got the money to pay my mortgage and he got access to my body, whenever and however he wanted it... SAPPHIRE BEAUTIFUL, a new full-length, stand-alone novel in Ren Monterrey's THE CLUB series. I never imagined that I'd be starting my fifth year as a faculty member in the Medieval Studies department as a thirty-two-year-old widow. I'm sure to be the butt of every joke around campus as the collateral damage of a sex scandal that made national headlines. And my husband left me completely broke after he killed himself. I don't want to lose my house and all the money I invested in it so I make an arrangement through The Club. I'll get what I need...money to get out of the financial ruins my dead husband left me in. And Dante McNally will get what he wants...access to my body...whenever and however he wants it... There's only one catch. Dante is one of our new graduate students and the recipient of a prestigious research fellowship funded by his billionaire father. And this is the year I'm supposed to be applying for tenure.

Rating: 4 Stars

My Review: I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
When I started this book, I expected this to be one of those billionaire books that are flooding the market right now. Instead, I found a book that I ended up reading in one sitting, and something completely different than what I expected.
This is the first book I have read from this author, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The author writes characters that are believable, heartfelt, and empathetic. From the very beginning I loved Mary: her single mindedness and ability to adjust her way of thinking to adapt to her situations, no matter how bad her situation seems.
Dante is a cute, nerdy surprise. From the very beginning, you can't help but love him. He's so painfully shy, I love the way Mary has been able to give him his voice and strength.

If you are looking for a fresh take on the billionaire romance books, this book should be top of your list.

My Review: I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review
:It has been a few years since I have read any mystery books. It is also the first book from this author that I have read. It was an amazing book where the action started from the very first chapter. The entire time I was reading it, like any good mystery book, the author had me guessing as to who could be the serial murderer, and of course, they all have their quirks. No one has been raised perfectly, but I was always wondering who could be messed up enough to be a psychotic killer.
I didn't feel a real connection between the friends in the beginning of the book, and I also didn't feel a lot of character development in Jenna during the book. If you don't focus on that, though, and see only the mystery and romantic entanglements that Jenna has somehow gotten herself into, this is an amazing book. As a mystery, the author keeps you guessing, and the book has enough romance to keep it going nicely. Jenna is the type of character you want to see succeed.
Since this was my introduction to the author, I definitely wasn't disappointed, and if you haven't read this author, I don't think you will be either..

Most important is the one he and Meg created together. But their beginning was tangled in memories he wishes his wife could forget for good. A call from her past brings them back to a place he thought they’d never have to be again. Forgiveness may be the key, but the first step is finding the locked heart that needs it.

EXCERPT:

He watched her slide her feet back and forth against the carpet. “Whew ... there’s a reason big girls shouldn’t wear heels.”

Jeremy finished his own drink and sat back down beside her, this time reaching down and taking her feet to pull them up into her lap.She made a face as if she would protest, but when he began circling his thumbs into the arches of her feet, she leaned back against the arm of the couch and moaned. “Oh, that’s nice. Do they teach that at earl school?”

As he massaged, she pointed her feet in a stretch, and her toes brushed a feather’s touch against his thighs. Damn, but the woman could get a reaction from him almost without warning. He continued rubbing, then slipped his fingers between her toes.

“Oh, no, no, no,” she squealed, jerking to try to pull away from him. “Ticklish.”

“I figured...” One corner of his mouth turned up in a grin. He tugged her feet back to his lap, and when he did, the skirt of her dress
hitched up almost past her knees. She immediately took hold of the hem and tried to push it back down.

He encircled both her ankles with his hands and then slid them upward along her calves,
kneading the muscles of each leg as he went along.

“Jeremy, you don’t have to ...”

“Shh ...”

Her eyes were open wide, so many emotions in their depths that it was hard to figure what she was feeling. Fear? Embarrassment? Excitement? He pushed one of her legs to the side until it slipped off the couch, then he scooted forward into the open space
between her thighs. With one ankle still in his hand, he lifted it so that he could sweep his lips across the creamy smooth skin of her calf, working his way upward.

She was still holding her dress, doing her best to cover up, but the hypnosis of his stare had her. She never once looked away from him as he made his way higher. When he nipped his teeth to the tender spot at the crook of her knee she flinched, then sucked her
lip into her mouth.

He was so desperate to kiss her that he almost rose up to smother her body with his and claim her mouth. But he didn’t. Instead he
let go of her leg and then took her hands, loosening the tight hold she had on her hemline. The satiny material dropped, sliding downher thighs to bunch at her waist.

Under she had on tight nude-colored shapewear, which she was clearly embarrassed about. Gazing up at her, he brought one of her hands to his cheek. Her fingers stretched long, tentatively touching his lips. When he sucked two of them into his mouth, she moaned and closed her eyes.

“Jeremy, why are you doing this?” She snatched her hands away and to her lap where she once again tried to hide herself under
folds of orange fabric.

“I want there to be a day when you won’t ask that question. Maybe it won’t be with me, but one day, you won’t have to wonder why a man would worship you and your body.”

Synopsis: As one of the twelve Guardians, Urian has spent the last several centuries in a constant battle to keep the inhabitants of Earth’s Realms under control. Humanity has to evolve, hell beasts need to die, and Immortals need mates. But lately, Uri's mind is overrun with thoughts of when his sexy voyeur will find him again, watching him from the shadows, continuing their wicked game. All Guardians are forbidden contact with the little goddess and her brothers, but his need for her escalating, he finds it increasingly difficult to keep from pinning her down on the nearest surface and making her his.

Alexandra has managed to evade the Guardians and being cast out from the human Realm for centuries, ever since the Creators sent the Gods to sleep for their sins against humanity and banished all Immortals. Always sensing that she was needed on Earth, only once has Alex gone against her instincts and the price she paid will forever haunt her. It is for that reason she forces herself to stay away from the only male who has ever truly enticed her. The only one who has ever made her long for what she knows is dangerous.

In a desperate need to help her beloved brother, she will have to go to the enthralling Guardian, her dark obsession, and even though he will surely attempt to exile her, she won't go easily…

Warning: This book contains explicit and sizzling sex scenes with big dominant males. MFM, ménage, and light bondage.

My Review: I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book reminded me of an old porn movie; where the storyline exists just to get you to the next sex scene. And it was a tenuous thread at times, leading to the next scene. At times, the back story was a tad bit confusing, I think it could have been delved into much deeper to make a much better, richer world building.
The characters were well built but I didn’t really get much of a personality of Uri, other than an alpha male, testosterone driven one. Alexandra was probably the well-written character, but at times, she was only three dimensional enough to revolve back to sex. For instance, her bond with her brothers and the shield that protects her….activated only when she orgasms….see?

I was hoping this would be a deeper series than just a cover-up for between the sex scenes, which were smoking hot, by the way. There is a rape scene in it, which was a big turn off for me, but at least explained a little of the story line, but was it really necessary? I would have liked to see more depth, more world, more character to the people. Make them real for me.

Now, to her complete bewilderment, four Deaths vie for her affection. Yet, something is terribly wrong at the College of Deaths. Dragons circle the horizon, blood spills, and nothing is what it seems. Susan and her friends struggle to stop a war. They search for the fabled First Scythe, hoping to sway the balance, but who is the true enemy?

My rating: 3 1/2 stars

REVIEW: I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
From the very beginning of the series, I thought this was very Harry Potter-esque. The details are obviously changed, but the thread remains, even to a sport the students play, and the other race, the Elementals, that help around the school, and the Scooby gang. You definitely need to read the first book before reading this one, as they are very dependent on the story line from the first. The change between books, from Suzie's point of view only to each of the teens' points of view was interesting. It helped to add a little more to the storyline, especially from the Elemental point of view.
I found the story line seemed to drag in places. The characters were interesting enough, well-written for teenagers with enough hormonal angst to drive the plot along when it dragged. As the only female in a world of males, I could understand Suzie's need to prove herself, and it underlined the tensions we find in our own world when we have people that are different than the norm.
Overall, the book was okay, but it was too easy to put it down and come back to eventually. It didn;t grab me for some reason.

Thrust into a world of men, can a timid girl find bravery as the first female Death? Thirteen-year-old Suzie Sarnio always believed the Grim Reaper was a fairy tale image of a skeleton with a scythe. Now, forced to enter the College of Deaths, she finds herself training to bring souls from the Living World to the Hereafter. *** WARNING *** This novel is intended for those over 18 yrs. of age due to mature and sexual material.

"Didn't anyone ever tell you what happens to BAD girls? Well... let Pretty Boy show you."

Agent Christopher Gibson has everything a man in his position could want. A successful career as one of the FBI's most credited undercover field agents, with no personal ties to hold him back. He tried that once, it didn't go over too well.

Jessica Leary is on her way to the top, working on her father's Senate re-election campaign. She has the job she wants- the opportunity to prove herself to both the political elite and her father.

What could these two people from very different worlds ever have in common? Nothing.

Nothing other than a hot, sexy, torrid love affair that was left in the past- torn apart by the different directions their lives were headed.

Now, months later, Jess finds herself in a perilous position. The past that once brought "Pretty Boy" Chris Gibson into her life has now come back to haunt her, threatening everything that she's worked for.

When trouble comes knocking on your door, what's a girl to do? Why, call your bad-ass, sexy-as-sin, FBI agent of an ex-boyfriend to do what he does best... take down the bad guys and anyone else that stands in his way, because when Pretty Boy sets his sights on a target, nothing distracts him. But, why is it that this time is different?

Being close to Jess again, seeing first-hand what he's given up is just enough to throw everything off course, as Jess seems to be the perfect mix of good AND bad girl.

Didn't anyone ever tell you what happens to BAD girls? Well... let Pretty Boy show you in book one of the brand new BADGE BOYS series of stand alone novels.
